JOB SUMMARY: An over the road truck driver for Mid-West Fertilizer will deliver various agricultural products to commercial and retail customers as well as producers. Safety is the number one priority with Mid-West Fertilizer. Our drivers follow all applicable safety regulations set forth by Mid-West Fertilizer and government agencies. Along with safety, the driver should interact with all customers and vendors in a courteous manner, maintain a positive image of Mid-West Fertilizer and be an innovative thinker.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of applicable OSHA, , EPA, DOT, State, local, and customer regulations or the willingness to learn (Some of the state, local, and customer regulations may change from time to time, so just a willingness to comply wen told is necessary).
- Perform daily safety checks of vehicle.
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Hazardous Material and Tanker endorsements.
- Ability to be away from home several nights per week.
- Good working knowledge of MSDS information on product being hauled.
- Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
- Ability to deal with emotional customers and help resolve complaints.
- Frequently lift or move 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move 100 pounds.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Eye protection is required in restricted areas. Appropriate personal protective equipment (i.e. goggles, gloves, long sleeve shirt, and/or face mask) required when handling chemicals.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two years commercial driving experience.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Safely deliver products as assigned.
- Operate and maintain truck and trailer properly in accordance with maintenance and operator manuals. Report any need for maintenance to supervisor when necessary.
- Load and unload trailer properly in accordance with quality and safety standards.
- Complete required DOT logs and maintain required documents in truck.
- Ensure equipment meets federal, state, and local regulations. Report any concerns to Truck Dispatch Manager.
- Courteously share the road with other drivers. Also, work with vendors, customers, and communities in a courteous fashion.
- Maintain clean and professional appearance for yourself and your equipment.
- Be willing to adapt to change and innovate to create success for customers, Mid-West Fertilizer, and any other stakeholders.
- Complete any special projects as assigned by your supervisor.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Job involves work inside a climate-controlled office atmosphere and outside in hot and cold weather.
